Author Event with Dr. Simon Jarrett

To encourage conversations about disability and inclusion within our wider community, icandance hosted an event with author Dr Simon Jarrett. Juliet and Simon discussed his book ‘Those They Called Idiots: The Idea of the Disabled Mind from 1700 to the Present Day’. The book brings into sharp focus the little-known lives of people with learning disabilities from eighteenth-century England to the nineteenth-century asylum to care in today’s society. This inspirational evening was filled with valuable knowledge, insightful questions and open conversation.
